The first players on the market for outsourced FM services were service suppliers that delivered one or two closely related services, primarily in cleaning, catering and security. Such suppliers are called single/bundled service suppliers. Eventually, the demand grew for service suppliers delivering more services, and who could take overall responsibility for FM functions—integrated facilities management, IFM.
Single service suppliers
Suppliers of single FM services such as cleaning companies, catering companies, staff restaurants and security patrol companies. The supplier performs the assignment the client requests.
Bundled service suppliers
Suppliers of several (often related) services. The supplier co-ordinates and delivers the services the client requests.
IFM/TFM/service management suppliers
Suppliers with responsibility for co-ordinating, executing and developing multiple services. The supplier takes overall responsibility for running and developing the agreed service delivery in close partnership with the client.
