UCC in Denmark focuses on organic food offering in collaboration with FOOD by Coor

Healthy food, ecology and sustainability are the key concepts behind Danish university UCC’s new restaurant offering which is being implemented at Campus North Zealand and the brand new Campus Carlsberg in Denmark. FOOD by Coor, Coor’s proprietary restaurant operation, has been selected to deliver the university’s restaurants, cafes and student catering services. More than 10,000 students and 1,000 staff are permanently based at these campuses.

In September 2016, UCC will be relocating its educational programs and courses in the Copenhagen region to the brand new district Carlsberg City. This is where UCC’s 10,000 students in fields such as education and teacher training will be based in a distinct professional environment focusing on the latest research findings and competence development.

The relocation to the new premises will enable UCC to implement several of its key objectives, such as sustainability and ecological considerations. One of its focus areas is the university’s new restaurants, which will serve freshly prepared and delicious food based on local, organic and seasonal ingredients. UCC has chosen FOOD by Coor to deliver the concept.

“We’re delighted with our collaboration with FOOD by Coor. I’m convinced that this partnership will enable UCC to develop our food concept to students, staff and guests. Coor has a clear and professional focus on quality and sustainability, as well as experience of the important task of delivering a varied and high-quality food offering to large numbers of people, and we’re looking forward to doing this in a brand new building,” commented Anne Hasling Sørensen, Resource Manager at UCC.

The UCC contract is Coor Denmark’s largest restaurant assignment to date. Campus Carlsberg will be officially opened on 2 September, although Coor’s assignment will begin on 1 August, when 20 new Coor staff will start to prepare and develop the service delivery.

“I’m delighted with this assignment. This is a perfect match between UCC’s and Coor’s visions and values. We’ll now customize our solution according to UCC’s requirements, and look forward to starting the assignment in August,” commented Jørgen Utzon, CEO of Coor Denmark.
