We’re raising standards!
This year’s environmental audit process demonstrates that Coor customers’ environmental work is committed and driven. In just three years, progress has come so far that it’s time to raise the requirements of the Gold Standard in Coor’s environmental accreditation system.
The environment and sustainability are high on the agenda for many of Coor’s customers. To satisfy their needs and opportunities to select climate-neutral solutions, Coor has conducted environmental audits on all its major deliveries for the third consecutive year. In the absence of a sector standard, Coor developed a proprietary tool to support its audit process—Coor Green Services.
“Our tool sets criteria for the various services we deliver. Its environmental criteria are based on relevant standards in each service segment, such as Svanen (‘Swan’) labeling for cleaning and restaurant services,” explains Ann-Charlotte Vejlö, Project Manager of Coor Green Services.
Coor’s environmental accreditation system has two standards, Gold and Silver. To achieve Gold, operations must basically satisfy all criteria. For silver, a set of mandatory criteria must be satisfied, plus more than half of the others. Each year, the number of Gold and Silver standard customers has increased, and the same applies in 2012. Of the 119 sites appraised, 34 achieved Coor Green Services Gold (compared to 10 in 2011) and 77 sites achieved Coor Green Services Silver (compared to 64 in 2011).
Coor Green Services is a dynamic evaluation tool, which means its criteria adapt to progress over time. Achieving the Gold standard should be hard, but not impossible.
“Customers are really interested in environmental issues, and it’s clear that many of them are choosing solutions that are sustainable for their surroundings and the environment. Our tools make these choices easier and give them a good overview of what’s necessary,” adds Ann-Charlotte.

“We’re currently reviewing our criteria for next year, and because there were so many Golds this year, we’ll be making the criteria more stringent. We want to urge our customers forward and challenge them, to show what they can do for the environment in concrete terms. Coor Green Services is a fantastic tool to help us maintain a good discussion on sustainability issues,” concludes Ann-Charlotte.
