Robotization—opportunity or threat?

Trade fair IFMA World Workplace was held in Stockholm in May, and my impression is that there are three international megatrends in the area of Facility Management: the trend towards the activity-based workplace, technological progress and the battle over the best employees.

I think we’re all in agreement that digitalization is rapidly changing the world around us. We live in exciting times with ultra-fast progress in the fields of IoT and artificial intelligence. The latter has become part of our everyday life without us even noticing. Our mobiles are full of apps that use AI to give us recommendations every day, ranging from the fastest route to work to what music you might want to listen to. It’s not more complicated than that.

We also believe in allowing robots to carry out many heavy and strenuous tasks. This means that employees are freed up to carry out tasks that require the human touch—what we call service with IQ.

At Coor, we’re always looking ahead. We’re currently running a number of interesting projects that utilize IoT to help people to work smarter and more efficiently. We also believe in allowing robots to carry out many heavy and strenuous tasks. This means that employees are freed up to do work that require the human touch—what we call service with IQ.

In this issue of Nova you can read about how we’ve integrated robots in our work at newly constructed Karolinska Hospital. You’ll also be getting some great tips from Anna Nordin at Coor Advisory Services about how to adapt your offices to today’s employees and attract the very best. Enjoy the read!
