The Danish Police Service
The Danish Police was presented with a need to make substantial savings and to find smart solutions and thought outsourcing service solutions is an excellent way to save money, get an overview and gain managerial capacity.
Savings and intelligent solutions
The Danish Police was presented with a need to make substantial savings in several segments, including facility management. What they needed was an intelligent solution. Coor won the public tender, as the most able to execute all the tasks needed, such as cleaning, tech support and internal services.
A successful start-up process
A contract was signed in April, which marked the start of a large-scale integration process, involving all the police districts in Denmark, and lasting for several months.
- Everyone felt they had an opportunity to influence the contract, not just internally but also through the collaboration with Coor, explains Bettina Jensen, Departmental Manager of Group Services at the Danish Police.
The start-up process has proceeded well, and the goal is to have services running smoothly in 2013, which is realistic. The process has been a learning experience.
- There have been issues, as you would expect with a transformation of this size, but these have been addressed, using a central steering committee and open dialogue between the local facility manager and Coor.
Benefits of outsourcing
Bettina Jensen says that the Danish Police have faith in Coor's capabilities.
- They have delivered. Our districts are now controlling their savings. They can scale up and down in various service segments if they see the need—we're better at finding solutions now.
And she concludes with a special recommendation for the public sector:
- Outsourcing your service solutions is an excellent way to save money, get an overview and gain managerial capacity.
Coor has delivered. Our districts are now controlling their savings. They can scale up and down in various service segments if they see the need—we're better at finding solutions now.
