Sustainability

Becoming a truly sustainable company

At Coor, we include sustainability in everything we do. We set clear and measurable targets for our social and environmental sustainability work—like we’ve always done in our business operations. Our vision is to become a truly sustainable company.

We spend a lot of time at our workplaces, where we want to experience healthy, welcoming and well-functioning environments. At the same time, society faces environmental challenges and we need to conserve the planet’s resources. Coor’s ambition is to contribute to both of these issues. Therefore, a sustainability perspective is included in everything we do.

At Coor, we create the best work environments in the Nordic region - happy, healthy and most prosperous. This means we put people at the centre while at the same time taking the environment into account.

Innovative power is our lever for sustainability. With an innovative approach and collaborations with customers, suppliers and start-ups, we are constantly working to find solutions to unsolved problems. Our goals are about satisfied customers, committed employees, increased inclusion and a reduced climate footprint.

We also help our customers achieve their goals. Our services and offering complement the business perspective with environmental and social sustainability. With proper maintenance of properties and needs-based local care, we reduce wear and tear and waste of resources and, at the same time, create a better working environment. We offer good food with health and the environment in mind. With digitalisation and data analysis, we optimise properties and ensure that we work more resource efficiently. That is how we create added value.

Our employees are our most important resource. With the right training and the right equipment, we create safe, secure and prosperous workplaces for both our own and our customers’ employees. We are also proud to be an integration engine that welcomes those who are far from the labour market into our context.

That is how we at Coor make your workplace more sustainable.

Long-term objectives in three dimensions

Coor strives to operate in a responsible and sustainable manner. Customers, employees, owners and other stakeholders must feel confident that Coor will run its business professionally, profitably, safely and sustainably over time.

Our overall objective is to ensure a successful business that delivers on our financial targets without compromising on respect for human beings and the environment. We create value in three dimensions and for us at Coor, our social and environmental goals are as critical as our business goals. For each dimension, we have defined our principal standpoints and objectives for how we should conduct our business. For us, sustainable business is about taking long-term responsibility for the activities in which we are engaged.

A global perspective

Coor has high sustainability ambitions and a strategy that is based on the principles of the UN Global Compact and the UN 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) . The purpose of the goals is to abolish extreme poverty, reduce inequality and injustice in the world, promote peace and fairness, and solve the climate crisis by 2030. Coor wants to help advance this important work.

In recent years, Coor has mainly directed its development efforts to eight of the UN's Global Goals, because this is where we use the most resources and, consequently, where we have the greatest ability to make a difference. In 2022, we carried out a comprehensive review of our contribution to the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals. The review showed that we should continue to focus on these eight goals. In addition, we have also added goal number seven, sustainable energy for all, to the goals we focus on. With energy supply becoming an increasingly important issue, we have built up a growing service portfolio of smart energy solutions that enables us to make a more active contribution in this area.

Food (R)evolution

Around 1.1 million lunches are eaten every day in cafeterias at workplaces, universities and schools across Norway. This represents a large part of the actual food consumption, but also that consumers make individual food choices – both in the canteen and in their private households. At Food (R)evolution, we will – together with our partners – develop a new collaborative model for the food industry. The purpose is to radically improve and increase both private and professional consumption of sustainable food.

The research project has been established and was allocated MNOK 12 from the Research Council of Norway to carry out the project in the period 2021-2024.

Grønnvaskingsplakaten

Both within social and environmental sustainability we believe there is a need to focus on the real issues, create real change, and avoid greenwashing. As the first FM supplier, Coor has chosen to sign the anti-greenwashing initiative – “Grønnvaskingsplakaten”. It is a guideline for businesses that want to avoid greenwashing and make a positive contribution to the green shift happening faster. It contains ten commandments the signing business promises to live by.
