Coor to deliver pioneering patient meals at the new buildings of Karolinska University Hospital in Solna, Sweden

Against tough competition, Coor has been awarded the assignment of developing meal services and operating catering facilities in the new hospital. This contract has an annual value of some SEK 66 m and will be signed for a six-year term with a maximum four-year extension option.

Coor will operate the new catering facilities at the new buildings of Karolinska University Hospital effective 1 April 2018, involving the preparation and delivery of 900 patient meal portions per day, and supplying all departments with produce such as bread, milk, fruit, breakfast cereals, spreads etc. The assignment also includes meal-time hosting at 20 departments, as well as on-site dietary competence. One key component of the undertaking is Coor and Karolinska University Hospital jointly developing patient nutrition and mealtime experiences.

Coor is one of the leading FM service providers in the Nordics, with food & beverages as one of its biggest service groups, through some 120 restaurants, Coor is one of the largest operators in the Nordic countries. Patient nutrition will be under an own Coor brand.

Our ambition is to partner closely with Karolinska University Hospital and develop patient nutrition so we achieve mealtime experiences that help make patients’ and relatives’ time at the hospital more positive,” commented AnnaCarin Grandin, President of Coor Sweden. 

The deal will involve Coor hiring an estimated 70 new staff.

The award decision will become effective after the customary trial period. Contracting parties are Coor and Karolinska University Hospital.
