Make or break

There are currently two major trends that all company managements need to understand and adapt to. Separately, each of these are significant enough to change the operational game plan for any business, but taken together they change the very playing field. This needs to be understood to avoid falling behind and, ultimately, not making it.

I'm talking about climate change and the digitalization process.

The climate issue is urgent, and can only be resolved by reducing carbon emissions. National energy and climate targets may seem to take a very long view, but I'm convinced that our politicians are serious and will gradually tighten legislation and introduce more mandatory measures. The requirement for energy auditing and sustainability reporting imposed on larger companies provide two concrete examples. Others include recent international political proposals regarding a future prohibition on fossil fuel-driven cars. More examples are likely to come.

The possibilities presented by new technology is quite different. Here, progress is far faster – and free of compulsory measures. The latest technology is now cheap and accessible enough for it to be applied to most areas. This creates entirely new conditions, both in terms of streamlining production and product development.

As an FM services provider, Coor takes its stand on these matters very seriously.
