Collaboration - key to a successful move

By bringing together competences from pharmaceuticals company Roche and diagnostics company Roche Diagnostics, more value could be created for patients, healthcare services and society at large. To achieve this, the two companies moved into new shared offices in Solna in October 2017 – and Coor was part of the journey.

The Roche companies are continuing to operate as two separate organizations, but the shared, modern office space creates more opportunities for collaboration and synergies. At the same time, the companies have moved to an activity-based office which supports a range of work situations, including solitary work pods. This implied a major shift in the way we work,” explains Mahdi Adawi, Facility Manager and Site Security Officer at Roche.

Roche AB, which carries out pharmaceuticals-related marketing and research, and Roche Diagnostics, which develops and implements diagnostic solutions, have just over 200 employees between them. All staff was involved in different ways ahead of the move: from discussing the floor plan, the design and furnishing of work zones to how to check in, greet and escort visitors.

This was a demanding project for Coor, who was responsible for providing significant staff resources before and during the move. From day one, Coor provided two receptionists, one conference hostess and one security-oriented janitor on site. Alongside Roche, Coor ensured that everything went smoothly. The high staffing level at the Roche offices made it possible to prevent problems from occurring in the first place.

“Coor created a secure and friendly environment and made sure that our staff could get back to work again as quickly as possible. Those that needed additional help received it, which meant that we avoided any major disruptions,” Mahdi explains.

High staffing levels in combination with a close and effective collaboration between supplier and customer – where both parties take the initiative, are responsive and inclusive is what has ensured the success of this major relocation project. The customer satisfaction rate of 97% confirms this.

“The end result was better than expected and it’s hard to imagine how we could have done it any better. Both parties were committed to the project and responsive to each other’s ideas. There was a strong feeling that this was a joint effort, where we all felt comfortable working alongside each other on the same team. Just look at the employee satisfaction survey, it speaks for itself,” Mahdi concludes.
